Rush

RushDesign, Animation & Fabrication
2005 through the current Rush Fifty Something Tour.
Our relationship with Rush began in 2005, when Neil Peart asked our team to build NeilPeart.net. Two decades on, the work has moved from the web to the stage: the Time Stand Still tribute for the band's 2026 Fifty Something Tour, concert films for Neil's drum solos, animated openings for "2112" and "Red Barchetta," a robot drummer that appeared on the band's last two tours, and the redesign of the drum kit and riser he played every night.
The Time Machine kit
Neil's Time Machine drum set and riser, redesigned from the ground up. We did the 3D previsualization and the original hardware designs, DW Drums built the kit, and we supervised fabrication of the octagonal riser at Tech Work Studios. We also created every visual for the video "portholes" in its panels.

Fifty Something Tour, 2026
Time Stand Still was a special one for us to make. Greg's friendship with Neil goes back to 2005, and over the years it included riding motorcycles together on tour. Those miles shaped the animation journey of this tribute, which plays on Rush's Fifty Something Tour, the band's first since Neil's passing, in more than 80 venues around the world.
The film is a time-travel through Neil's life. It begins in his DNA, then finds him as a young drummer just starting out. It arrives at a drum kit on a lake, an image inspired by an '80s poster of Neil playing on a raft, rebuilt here with the Time Machine kit Greg designed with him. Handwritten lyrics appear in the trees. A motorcycle journeys on alone, without its master. And in the end Neil is still playing, up among the stars.

From previous tours
Three concert videos for Neil's drum solos. Animated openings for "2112" and "Red Barchetta" (three cameras in a pickup truck driving California center lines, with the footage reversed). And "Swinging Serpents," a 2.5D animation that finished the drum solo on the 2007/08 Snakes and Arrows tour.

The Percussor
A copper-and-brass robot drummer, animated for the band's last two tours and later depicted in the Clockwork Angels novel.
